St. Petersburg, FL: St. Petersburg man died in motorcycle crash on Sunday September 27 2015.


A St. Petersburg man died at the scene, after his motorcycle crashed into a fire truck about 1 a.m. Sept. 27.
According to a public release from the Florida Highway Patrol, William R. Ash, 48, was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling northbound in the inside lane of 66th Street approaching 54th Street North in St. Petersburg.
Firefighters with the Lealman Fire District were traveling northbound on 66th Street in the center lane also approaching 54th Street North. The fire truck was on its way to the scene of a vehicle crash on 66th Way North and had its emergency lights and siren activated.
As the motorcycle and fire truck approached the intersection, the motorcyclist failed to yield. It continued northbound, passing the fire truck, which turned left onto 54th Avenue North. The front of the motorcycle collided with the left side of the fire truck.
The driver of the fire truck, George Farrell, 59, of St. Petersburg was uninjured.
