Wayne,MI : Former Wayne County prosecutor and family killed in Colorado accident on April, Monday 9th 2018

Christina Toth, a former Wayne County prosecutor, and her family were killed in a crash with a semitrailer in northeastern Colorado.

The Colorado State Patrol said 48-year-old Toth and her husband, Thomas, 48, died early Saturday when their van hit a jackknifed semi on Interstate 76 about 5 miles east of Sterling.

Sonja Franchett, principal at Maire Elementary in Grosse Pointe, said the crash also killed the couple's daughters 11-year-old Sophia and 8-year-old Elianna. She said the family was on vacation.

Christina Toth was also a former attorney for Ford Motor Co. and had recently partnered with a friend to start a new firm, The Detroit News reported. Thomas was a packaging engineer at Fiat Chrysler.

The Toth family's van was eastbound when it hit the semi, going underneath it, the Colorado patrol said. The collision ripped the roof off the van.
