A 5-year-old boy was struck by a car in Natick when the driver jumped the curb to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of it.

Police say it happened just before noon Wednesday near the city's historic district.

Police say a 38-year-old woman from Natick abruptly hit her brakes when a vehicle in front of her stopped at a crosswalk to allow pedestrians to cross. To avoid hitting the vehicle, she veered right, driving off the road and jumping the curb, where her vehicle collided with the boy at a low speed.

The boy was taken to Boston Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No charges have been filed against the driver.

The collision remains under investigation.
