Rock Springs, WY : Woman died after fatal ATV crash west of Rock Springs on Saturday, Oct 10, 2015

The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a Rock Springs woman died in an ATV crash Saturday.

Sheriff Mike Lowell says Janice Oliveto, 64, and her husband, Dominic Oliveto, were on White Mountain in their side-by-side ATV about three-quarters of a mile northeast of the intersection of the White Mountain Road and the Gookin-White Mountain Road when the crash occurred at about 12:47 p.m.

Investigating deputies say the Olivetos were stuck on a very steep slope at the top of the mountain and were working to free themselves when the accident happened. Janice Oliveto was at the ATV’s wheel and Dominic Oliveto was just behind the vehicle when it accelerated forward, rolled several times down the slope, and came to rest on the driver’s side.

Janice Oliveto died of injuries sustained in the crash. Deputies say there is no indication that alcohol was a factor.
