Ocala, FL : Drivers injured in truck crash on Jacksonville Road Monday, August 8, 2016

At least two people were sent to local hospitals on trauma alert Monday afternoon after two pickup trucks collided on Jacksonville Road near the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion at 2232 N.E. Jacksonville Road.

Ocala Fire Rescue public information officer Ashley Lopez said preliminary information indicated “one truck crossed over the median” into the other truck. The two pickups, one maroon towing an empty horse trailer and one blue, which both appeared to be Dodges, were “heavily impacted.” Two people were in the maroon truck and one person was in the blue truck. One of the people in the maroon truck had to be extracted.

Also helping at the scene were units from the Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue. According to an official with OPD, the blue truck, which was going west, crossed the concrete median for an unknown reason and hit the maroon truck, which was traveling east. The drivers of each truck were the ones taken to hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately available.
