Grand Haven,MI : Woman critically injured in M-45 crash on June, thursday 8th 2017

A woman who fell asleep at the wheel was transported by the AeroMed helicopter to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in critical condition following a three-vehicle crash on Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. between M-231 and 120th Avenue in Robinson Township.

Lake Michigan Drive was closed between M-231 and 120th Avenue for more than an hour after the crash.

Merissa Witt, 27, of Grand Rapids was driving a Chevrolet Spark east on M-45 when she fell asleep, according to Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
