AHUIMANU, HI : 2 children suffer serious injures following car crash on Kahekili Highway on Monday, 15th July 2024

Three people were injured, including two children who suffered serious injuries, after a car crashed into another car that was pulled over on the side of Kahekili Highway.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS), one car was driving on Kahekili Highway when the driver went left of center for an unknown reason and crashed into a car pulled off to the side of the road.

The crash caused the parked car to move forward and strike pedestrians who were standing in front of it.

EMS transported a 37-year-old woman, a 14-year-old girl, and a 12-yea-old boy to the hospital. The two children were both taken in serious condition. A woman in her late 20s declined treatment.

Officials did not say who was driving the car and who was in front of the parked car nor did they offer any details on the relationship of the injured individuals.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
