Oklahoma City,OK : Man crashes into parked car after allegedly stealing meat from grocery store on April, tuesday 25th 2017
A man has been arrested after stealing meat from a grocery store, leading an officer on a pursuit and crashing into a parked car.
It happened just before 4 a.m. on Tuesday near S.W. 88th and May Avenue.
"I wanted to go over there and hit him. I did, all over a T-bone steak," said Lakisha Mayberry.
Mayberry’s car was smashed into following a pursuit, and it’s all because of some meat from a grocery store.
"The driver and sole occupant of that vehicle had just been inside of that Crest store and had stolen a large quantity of meat,” said MSGT. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
Then, an officer noticed the suspect, 47-year-old Torey Singleton, driving erratically and, when he wouldn't stop, the officer chased him until it ended about a mile down the road at Mayberry’s house.
"The suspect was taken into custody at that time. He simply got out of the car and surrendered himself to the officer,” Knight said.
“I was mad. I was like what the heck is going on?” Mayberry said.
However, Mayberry is counting her blessings, because she sleeps just a few feet away from the driveway.
Her bed is right up against the wall.
“A couple more inches, I could've been gone. If my car was not there, I could've been gone," Mayberry said.
Singleton was arrested at the scene on reckless driving charges.
