A 52-year-old Discovery Bay man died in a four-car crash in Brentwood Wednesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man, who was not identified, died trapped inside a white Ford Fusion on Highway 4, just east of Sand Creek, CHP officials said.
Someone in a white Dodge truck had rammed into the back of the Fusion around 3:15 p.m., and that crash caused the Fusion to hit the back of a Ford Explorer and another Ford SUV.
The man in the Fusion was found unconscious inside the car and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Dodge driver was not taken to the hospital but those in the SUV and Explorer were taken to Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Traffic was being diverted off of the freeway at Sand Creek.
Alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors in the collision. The CHP was investigating the crash and asked anyone with more information to call (925) 646-4980.
