South Huntingdon, PA : Speed likely factor in fatal South Huntingdon crash near the Interstate 70 interchange on Monday, 27th August 2018

Officials believe speed was a factor in a fatal accident that killed an Elizabeth motorist in South Huntingdon on Monday night.

Ronald C. Zubasic, 57, died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest after being ejected from his Ford Taurus along Route 31, according to Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth A. Bacha. The accident happened just after 8 p.m. near the Interstate 70 interchange, state police said.

Zubasic was the lone occupant of the eastbound car when it left the north side of the road, for an unknown reason, struck a tree and overturned, Bacha said. Zubasic, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

Results from toxicology tests aren’t expected for several weeks, Bacha said.
