North Platte, NE : One-fatality accident on Highway 83 investigated on Wednesday, 9th November 2016

One person died after a collision Wednesday morning in Cherry County.
Just before 7 a.m., a semitrailer truck and a pickup with a trailer collided on U.S. Highway 83, 17 miles north of Thedford, said Deb Collins, an information coordinator with the Nebraska State Patrol.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the pickup pulling a small trailer was northbound on U.S. Highway 83. The pickup crossed the center line, and collided with the semi “nearly head-on,” Collins said.
The semi rolled onto its side in the west ditch, while the pickup stayed on the road in flames, Collins said.
The driver of the pickup died in the crash, and was the lone occupant of the pickup, Collins said.
“Efforts are underway to identify the driver of the pickup and notify family,” she said.
The semi driver was uninjured in the crash.
