Tulsa, OK : An 18-year-old Missouri man died on Saturday, June 17, 2017

An 18-year-old Missouri man died Saturday, just over a week after he was involved in a single-vehicle wreck in Sequoyah County.

Austin Varvell, of Puxico, Missouri, was riding in a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban on a stretch of Interstate 40 about 5 miles east of Roland on June 12 when his vehicle left the roadway, overcorrected and rolled, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Varvell was admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later died.

Driver Robbie Varvell, 45, also of Puxico, and passenger Tammy Varvell, also 45 and of Puxico, were admitted to a hospital and have since been treated and released.

Troopers described the driver’s condition as sleepy and said the cause of the wreck is still under investigation. The decedent was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
