Alexandria, MN : A driver was seriously injured after in a head-on collision on May, Friday 5th 2017

A driver was seriously injured after in a head-on collision with a truck Friday north of Garfield.

A news release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office identified the injured driver as John David Wasserbauer, 44, of Crosby.

Wasserbauer was driving south on Douglas County Road 12 when his car collided with the left-side bumper of an oncoming semi-truck driven by Jeff Wayne Martenson, 54, of Battle Lake.

The crash occurred at a curve on County Road 12 at Burr Oak Drive Northwest. It was reported at 12:54 p.m., Friday, May 5.

Both the car and the truck, which was pulling a low-boy trailer, sustained severe damage.

Wasserbauer was taken by North Ambulance to Douglas County Hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol.

Garfield Fire and First Responders also responded.
