A Spartanburg woman died Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Powell Mill Road in Spartanburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Trooper Gary Miller said the driver of a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria was traveling northbound on Powell Mill Road and crossed left of center. The vehicle was struck by a 2008 Chevy Impala driven by a Spartanburg man traveling southbound on Powell Mill Road. The crash occurred at 3:25 p.m. near County Road.
Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the deceased as Glennis Ann Simpson, 47, of 242 Southern Avenue, Spartanburg. She was driving the Ford Crown Victoria. The exact cause of death is currently pending forensic examination.
Miller said the driver of the Crown Victoria was not wearing a seatbelt, was entrapped and pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to Spartanburg Medical Center for treatment.
