Athens, WV: 2 injured in 3 car accident on I-77 in Mercer County on Tuesday, July 21st 2015

Traffic was halted on Interstate 77 southbound near the Athens exit Tuesday.Dispatchers said a three vehicle accident happened at about 5:50 p.m. near mile marker 13.5.Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The third person involved refused medical treatment.East River Volunteer Fire Department, Princeton Rescue Squad and West Virginia State Police responded to the scene.Police have not released the cause of the accident. It remains under investigation by West Virginia State Police.
