Bristol, CT : Two children dead and four adults injured after a head-on collision on Middle Street in Bristol on Sunday, December 13, 2015
Two children are dead after a two-car crash early Sunday that left four other people seriously injured, police said.
Lt. Edward Spyros said officers responded to the crash on Middle Street, in the area of Pinebrook Terrace, about 12:35 a.m.
Spyros said a 2014 Nissan Sentra was heading north on Middle Street and crossed over the double yellow lines, striking a 2002 Ford Windstar head-on.
The Sentra had four people in the car, including a 4-year-old and 7-year-old in the back seat. All four were extricated from the car and the children were taken to Bristol Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, Spyros said.
The children's mother, whose name police have not released, was taken to a Hartford-area hospital with serious injuries, Spyros said. He said the front seat passenger in that car was flown by Life Star to a Hartford-area hospital.
The driver and front seat passenger in the Windstar were both seriously injured, he said. The driver was taken to a Hartford-area hospital, and the front-seat passenger was taken to a Waterbury-area hospital.
Spyros said a third passenger may have been in the Windstar, but possibly fled on foot before officers arrived. That person has not been located.
Spyros said all the victims sustained injuries to their heads, chests and legs. Their names have not been released pending notification of family members.
