Cajon Pass, CA : Man injured in a two-car, rollover collision on Interstate 15 on Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Authorities said a man was injured after a rollover crash on Interstate 15 Tuesday afternoon.
The crash was first reported just before 11:15 a.m. Tuesday on northbound I-15 just south of Oak Hill Road. California Highway Patrol officials said the man, reported to be from Barstow, was taken to a local trauma center after getting extricated from his vehicle.

CHP Officer Doug Corbett said two vehicles, a white Mercedes sedan and a silver Dodge two-door car were headed north on I-15. The Mercedes was in the No. 1 lane while the Dodge was in the slow lane. For unknown reasons, the Dodge hit a guardrail and swung around in front of the Mercedes, causing the vehicles to crash head-on, Corbett said.

The impact caused the Dodge to overturn, eventually landing on its roof on the left shoulder. The Mercedes sustained front-edge damage and came to rest on the right shoulder of the freeway.
San Bernardino County Fire Department officials were requested to extricate the man from the Dodge. The man was extricated in about 10 to 15 minutes, according to County Fire Captain Mike McClintock. He was first classified as an immediate patient but was later declassified to a delayed patient, McClintock said, and was taken by ground to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Corbett said both vehicles were only occupied by their drivers. The woman in the Mercedes didn't report any injuries, and Corbett said no major injuries and no other injuries were reported.

The crash briefly blocked the No. 1 lane of northbound I-15 as authorities responded to the scene and tow trucks arrived to move the vehicles away. CHP traffic logs reported that all lanes were open by 1 p.m, but northbound traffic was still reportedly moving slowly between Highway 138 and Oak Hill Road.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the San Bernardino CHP.
