Salem, OR : A driver and passenger in the same car were killed on Monday, December, 11th 2017

A driver and passenger in the same car were killed Monday in a head-on crash along Oregon 38 east of Reedsport, authorities say.

A 2009 Kia Rio crossed the centerline while heading west near milepost 12 around 7:25 a.m. and crashed into an eastbound 2015 Jeep Cherokee, according to Oregon State Police.

The driver of the Kia, 48-year-old Lisa Oswill of Tigard, and passenger, 21-year-old Carly Williams-Oswill of Wedderburn, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger in the Jeep were both taken to hospitals with serious injuries that police said are not life threatening.

The Jeep driver was identified as Lacy Santos, 37, and the passenger as Kylee Santos, 15. Both are from Scottsburg. The driver was taken to a hospital in Eugene and the passenger to a hospital in Reedsport, police said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Police said speed and icy road conditions are being considered as factors in the collision.
