Pulaski County, AR : Man killed after a hit-and-run accident in North Little Rock early Friday morning, May 6, 2016

The Pulaski County sheriff's office is investigating a hit-and-run accident in which a man was killed early Friday morning.

Just before 2 a.m. Friday, a sheriff's deputy who was driving south on Kelly Road, between Reed Road and Bee Jay Lane in North Little Rock, found Elgin Brice, 33, of Jacksonville lying in the southbound lane, according to the sheriff's office.

After calling for an ambulance, the deputy noticed Brice's breathing was shallow and rapid, and he did not have a pulse, according to a sheriff's office report. Shortly after the deputy found him, Brice stopped breathing.

Brice was pronounced dead at a hospital, the news release said.

The deputy at the scene reported finding a front license plate bracket about 20 feet from where Brice was found. He also reported seeing a drink can on the shoulder of the road nearby.

The sheriff's office identified no suspects and asked for anyone with information about the accident to contact the agency.
