Ravenna,OH : One killed in S.R. 5 crash in Paris Twp. on July, Friday 28th 2017

A Warren woman died in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on S.R. 5 in Paris Township.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. near milepost 14 and is under investigation by the Ravenna Post.

A 2007 Chevrolet Malibu traveling west on S.R. 5 traveled left center and struck an eastbound Freightliner semi tractor-trailer head-on, according to the highway patrol.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 20-year-old Courtney Fritz was wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. A passenger in the Chevrolet, 20-year-old Treasure McCall, was transported with serious injuries to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Warren. The driver of the Freightliner, 44-year-old John Waicak of Akron, was transported with non-life threatening injuries to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna.

Alcohol use is not suspected, according to the highway patrol.
