Dane County, WI : Motorcyclist clings to life after crash on Highway 51 in the town of Burke early Sunday morning, June 5, 2016

A motorcycle rider is clinging to life after suffering severe injuries in a crash with a vehicle early Sunday morning in Dane County.

The motorcyclist was traveling northbound Highway 51 in the town of Burke when the rider collided with the vehicle, which was heading north in the same lane, the Dane County Sheriff's Office said.

Speed and alcohol appeared to be involved in the crash, the sheriff's office said. The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was taken to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
