Lincoln, NE : Officer hurt in on-duty crash on Monday afternoon, November 17, 2014
Lincoln police say an officer needed eight stitches after a distracted driver crashed into his cruiser.
The Lincoln Journal Star reports Tuesday that the 25-year-old woman who hit the police car has been cited on suspicion of driving negligently.
Sgt. Mark James says 36-year-old Officer Joseph Keiser was trying to turn on Monday when the woman looked away from the road to pick up something. Her car drifted into Keiser's lane and hit the rear of his vehicle.
James says the crashed caused $9,000 in damage to the police cruiser.
No other injuries were reported.
