An early morning crash near Wetumpka left a 33-year-old man dead.

The crash happened Sunday morning at 4:45 a.m. on Redland Road near Willow Springs Road.

According to Corporal Jess Thornton, Ryan Patrick Masters was driving a 1991 Buick Century when the car left the roadway, hit a ditch, and overturned.

Masters, of Tallassee, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, Thornton said.

A passenger in the car was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His or her condition has not been released.

The preliminary investigation indicated alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, but Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate.
