Astoria, OR : 16-year-old driver died in crash on Highway 202 near Milepost 7 east of Astoria on Saturday, Sep 19, 2015

A 16-year-old driver died after losing control of her car, crossing the centerline of Highway 202 and crashing into an Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife pickup, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to Highway 202 near Milepost 7 east of Astoria at 11:20 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators said a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser was heading eastbound when the driver lost control on a corner and crossed the centerline.

The car collided with a westbound 2003 Dodge pickup registered to ODFW.

The driver of the Chrysler, a 16-year-old girl from Astoria, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released by police.

The driver of the pickup was identified as 36-year-old Brooks Van Develder of Astoria. He is an ODFW employee and was treated and released at the hospital.

The Highway was closed for four hours.
