Ellenton, FL :Fatal single-vehicle crash in Manatee County on Saturday, July 4th 2015

A Myakka City man died in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 301 in Ellenton on Saturday in what appears to be a self-inflicted crash.According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, James Bailey Jr., 34, grabbed the steering wheel of a Lexus car he was a passenger in.The driver of the car, April Betts, 33, also of Myakka City, was unable to regain control of her vehicle and it ran off the road and struck a utility pole.Betts only had minor injuries as a result of the crash.Alcohol may have been a factor in the incident but the investigation is ongoing and toxicology results are pending. Charges against the driver are also pending.
