Fredericksburg,VI : Motorcyclist killed in I-95 crash in Fredericksburg on June, Sunday 1st 2017

A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 southbound in Fredericksburg early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 3:55 a.m. near mile marker 131. The rider ran off the roadway and struck the rear of a 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was stopped on the right shoulder, according to Virginia State Police.

VSP said the motorcyclist was ejected onto the right shoulder and the motorcycle spun into the southbound lanes and was struck by several vehicles. The motorcyclist died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Police are waiting to reveal the identity of the motorcyclist until they notify next of kin.
