Lee, MA : 23-year-old New Jersey man seriously hurt in Route 20 crash in Lee on Saturday, January 17, 2015

A New Jersey man is still in the hospital after he lost control of his car this weekend and crashed into two utility poles on a Massachusetts highway, police said.

James Kersch, 23, of North Brunswick, was driving his Volkswagen GTL on Route 20 eastbound in Lee, Mass., Saturday at about 12:30 p.m. when the accident occurred, Lee Police Chief Jeffery Roosa said.

Kersch was transported to Berkshire Medical Center where he was stabilized, Roosa said, and moved to Albany Medical Center, about 50 miles away.

Police are unsure how Kersch, the lone occupant of the sedan, lost control of his car. Weather was not a factor in the crash, according to the report.

Kersch was visiting western Massachusetts skiing with friends, Roosa said.

The accident is still under investigation.
