MIDDLETOWN, RI : Middletown woman dies from injuries in car crash on Saturday, 20th October 2018

A 33-year-old local woman who was a passenger in a car that crashed on Third Beach Road early Saturday has died.

Kory Jones died from her injuries on Sunday, according to Middletown police. She had been brought to Newport Hospital, then Rhode Island Hospital after the accident.

Matthew Jones, 33, the driver, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence. He also was injured and transported to Newport and Rhode Island hospitals. His condition was not available, a Rhode Island Hospital spokesman said Sunday.

The accident remains under investigation, police said.
