Nottingham ,NH : 6 - Years old bo was injured and taken to hospital after he lost control of the Snowmobile and rolled it into a crowd of children playing near lake on Sunday , January 25th 2015

A 6-year-old boy is recovering and a Nottingham man is facing charges after a snowmobile accident on Pawtuckaway Lake.

Nottingham police said the driver was intoxicated Sunday when he lost control of the machine he was operating and rolled it into a crowd of children playing on the lake.

Police said Christopher Ramstrom, 44, was speeding across the ice when he came upon a cleared area of ice where some children were skating.

"As he approached that area, he veered off, causing the snow machine to tumble, and subsequently, it struck a juvenile boy," said Fish and Game Capt. John Wimsatt.

The 6-year-old boy suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK, police said. Ramstrom was charged with operating under the influence.

Resident Marc Dole said the lake is a popular spot for snowmobilers.

"People go pretty quick when they fly by," he said. "I say 'fly by,' and that basically what they do."

Investigators said that when snowmobilers are driving near people, skaters or ice fishermen, the speed limit is 10 mph.
