Two people were killed after a crash along Interstate 40 in Burke County Thursday morning, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Ryan Childers, 44, and his wife, Melissa Childers, 44, were identified as the victims.
The wreck happened around 11:45 a.m. on I-40 West at Exit 118.
Troopers say Ryan was driving westbound on the highway, failed to reduce his speed adequately, and collided with a tractor-trailer that was slowing down in the right lane due to traffic.
