SUMTER COUNTY, SC : 1 injured when 18-wheeler crashes onto golf course on US 15 in Sumter Co. on Friday, 20th July 2018

One person has been injured after an 18-wheeler crashed onto a golf course in Sumter County early Friday afternoon.

The crash happened before 11:30 a.m. at the Lakewood Links Golf Course, according to Sumter Fire Department Division Chief Brian Christmas.

Fire and hazmat crews were called to the scene due to possibly with liquid leaking, according to The Sumter Item, but Christmas said they monitored the situation and determined there was no hazmat threat.

No one on the golf course was injured, but Christmas said there was one injury, but did not confirm who was hurt.

The crash did take down nearby power lines. None of the surrounding roadways are blocked at this time.
