Authorities say a Utah Highway Patrol trooper was seriously injured after his parked cruiser was struck by another vehicle on Interstate 15 near Springville.

Trooper Blake Bradford was in serious but stable condition following the Thursday morning incident.

Sgt. Todd Royce says Bradford had stopped a driver on the highway when another vehicle slid off the icy road, hit a concrete barrier and then slammed into the back of his cruiser. Bradford was taken to a Provo hospital.

The two women in the vehicle that struck the cruiser were treated at the scene and released.

The impact forced Bradford's vehicle into the back of the car he had pulled over, but no other injuries were reported.

Spanish Fork police continue to investigate the crash.
