Fort Myers, FL : Pedestrian hit, killed by car in Fort Myers on Monday night, April 18, 2016

A 23-year-old man died after he was hit by a vehicle Monday night while walking in a Fort Myers neighborhood off Ortiz Avenue.

Rakeem T. Bailem, of Fort Myers, was struck by a 1996 Buick Century sedan near the intersection of Laredo and Heiman avenues around 9:30 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Bailem was taken by ambulance to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, Judas B. Mckenzie, 17, of Fort Myers, was not injured in the crash.

Charges are pending an investigation, the FHP report shows.
