State troopers say a woman has died and another person was critically injured after two cars collided on a highway outside Prescott.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a trooper helping a motorist change a tire witnessed the head-on collision Saturday morning.
According to DPS, a Toyota Tacoma traveling south on State Route 169 around 8:15 a.m. crossed the center line and struck a Ford van going northbound.
Investigators say the Toyota then spun across the road and hit the trooper's vehicle, which was unoccupied.
The female driver of the Toyota died at the scene.
The driver of the van was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital for critical but non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are not releasing the identity of the deceased driver pending notification of next of kin.
