PEORIA, IL : Fatal accident at Knoxville and Glen in Peoria remains under investigation on Sunday, 30th October 2016
A fatal accident involving a three-wheeled motorcycle and a car Sunday afternoon remains under investigation, police have said.
Preliminary autopsy results Monday indicate that Donald. E. Wheeler, 88, of Geneseo died from blunt force injuries sustained in the accident, which occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Glen and Knoxville avenues, said Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll.
The initial investigation indicates Wheeler was headed south on Knoxville when a woman in a blue Dodge Caliber which was headed north, attempted to make a left turn onto Glen Avenue. The two vehicles collided, Ingersoll said. The coroner said Wheeler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Ingersoll said it appears Wheeler had the green light and that the driver of the blue Dodge had a yellow light.
Peoria County State's Attorney Jerry Brady said the matter remains under investigation.
