Spokane, WA : One person dead after car crashes in Spokane river on Wednesday, 12th December 2018
A woman’s body was recovered from an upside-down car found Wednesday in the Spokane River.
The identity of the woman has not been released.
The car entered the river near Long Road and Montgomery Avenue by the Centennial Trail in Spokane Valley sometime before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Gregory said at about noon that the topography of the area, with steep terrain and private property flanking the river, was making recovery difficult.
“Evidence at the scene indicates the vehicle turned north from Montgomery on a private drive,” a Spokane Valley Police Department news release stated. “The vehicle continued north, past the dead end, over the steep embankment and came to rest upside down and partially submerged in the river.”
