Memphis, TN : Female passenger killed in DUI crash on I-240 near McLemore Street on Sunday, Aug 9, 2015

A woman died after a crash on I-240 near McLemore Street just before 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators said the woman was riding with Lawrence Houston when he lost control of his car and started sliding backwards. The car hit several trees.

A witness told police he heard the crash and went to check it out. He then saw Houston pulling the woman out of the car.

First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Houston was taken to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition. Due to his intoxicated state, Houston was intubated.

According to police, Houston had a high intoxicant level. He was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, and several other charges.

The woman has not been identified.
