New Castle, IN : Man killed in motorcycle crash on I-70 in Henry County on Thursday, June 23, 2016

A North Carolina man was killed in a motorcycle crash just before 10 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 70 in Henry County.

The man, identified by the Indiana State Police as William M. Barnes, 69, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene. Barnes was driving east in the left lane of I-70 near the 116 mile marker when his 2015 Harley Davidson left the road for an unknown reason, a press release said.

Barnes apparently lost control and was ejected as the motorcycle crossed the gravel berm and entered a grassy median. Police found the motorcycle and Barnes’ body near barrier cables.

Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Henry County EMS, Knightstown Police Department, Knightstown Fire Department and the Henry County coroner.
An investigation remains ongoing.
