AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OH : 1 killed, 1 injured in semitrailer crash on Pusheta Road in Auglaize County on Monday, 1st April 2019
A Lima man and a Wapakoneta man have been identified as the persons killed and injured Monday afternoon in the rollover crash of a commercial truck on Pusheta Road in Auglaize County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.Benjamin Stoll, 29, was the passenger killed. The driver, James Benshoff Jr., 41, suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Mercy Health -- St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
According to the preliminary investigation, the G.A. Wintzer & Sons Co. vehicle described as a straight truck was headed east on Pusheta Road when it drifted off the side of the road and started down an embankment. Troopers were dispatched to the accident about 3 p.m.
Benshoff tried to correct the slide, but apparently over-corrected and sent the truck rolling until it came to rest on its top, just west of Brown Road in southeast Auglaize County. Both occupants were trapped in the wreckage.
Benshoff was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred, but Stoll was wearing his, according to the state patrol.
Stoll died at the scene.
