Morganton, NC : Interstate-40 west reopens in Burke Co. following tractor trailer crash in early Tuesday morning on April 29th 2014

Interstate 40 westbound has reopened near exit 105 after a tractor trailer carrying elevator parts flipped over early Tuesday morning, closing the road for several hours.

The NC Highway Patrol says the driver was in a construction zone and drifted to the right, slamming into a guard rail and concrete barrier causing the truck to flip over on its side.

The cab caught fire but the driver got out with only minor cuts, troopers say.

Hazmat crews had to be called to clean up the fuel spill from the crash.

The road reopened just before 7:30 a.m.
