Medina,OH : Driver charged after crash on April, Friday 27th 2018
A 23-year-old Fredricksburg man was charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault after a three-car crash Friday morning in Montville Township.
Montville Police, the Medina Support Team and the Medina Fire Department responded to a crash at 5:51 a.m. Friday in the 7000 block of Wadsworth Road.
According to a release from Montville police, a 23-year-old female from Rittman was traveling north on Wadsworth Road in a 2017 black Kia Forte, when a light colored pickup truck passed her on a hill, over a double-yellow line.
As her vehicle was being passed, a southbound 2001 tan Chevy Prizm, driven by a 21-year-old female from Medina, rapidly decreased speed and veered slightly off the right side of the roadway, in what appears to be an attempt to avoid colliding head-on with the truck. As the Prizm re-entered the roadway it collided head-on with the northbound Kia.
Shortly before 1 p.m., with the help of witness information, Montville investigators located the driver of the pickup truck at a construction site in Medina. The driver was identified as Michael J. Hostetler, who was transported to Medina County Jail.
Montville police said it is working with Medina County Prosecutor Forest Thompson’s Office for possible additional charges.
Both drivers of the cars were alert and conscious at the scene. The Kia's driver was transported by Life Support Team to Medina Hospital where she was flown to an area trauma center. The driver of the Prizm was entrapped in her car for an hour and was extricated by the Medina Fire Department. She was flown from the scene to an area trauma center.
Route 57 was closed for several hours Friday, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
