Walnut Creek,CA : Man seriously hurt in Discovery Bay motorcycle crash on July, Saturday 15th 2017

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday when he and a car collided near Discovery Bay.

The man had pulled out of the Safeway parking lot on Highway 4 just east of Bixler Road when the accident occurred, said interim Battalion Chief Ross Macumber of the East Contra Costa Fire District.

Crews from the Discovery Bay fire station responded at 11:57 a.m., and firefighters from a second station followed up to clear the area so that a medical helicopter could land.

Highway 4 was closed in both directions.

The rider of the large Harley Davidson was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek; the driver of the other car was not injured.
