Topeka, KS : Aldine ISD officer faces charges after hit-and-run crash in the 13400 block of Topeka on Sunday, 16th December 2018

An off-duty Aldine ISD police officer is accused of running into a pedestrian outside an east Houston Panda Express, and then driving away.The officer, identified as Omario Gatheright, was in one of the school's police patrol cars when he crashed into a woman late Sunday in the 13400 block of Topeka, officials said.

The crash happened around 8:55 p.m., as Gatheright pulled out of the restaurant parking lot near where the woman was crossing the street, according to Houston police spokeswoman Jodi Silva.
Afterward, he fled - but came back to the scene at 10 :30 p.m., Silva said. He was then arrested for failure to stop and render aid.
