Mansfield, MA : 24-year-old Nichole Lodico died in a single-car crash on West Street in Mansfield on Sunday morning, January 18, 2015

A local woman has been identified as the victim who died in a single-car crash Sunday on West Street.
Nichole Lodico, 24, of 80 Williams St. in Mansfield was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, said police who made the identification late Monday afternoon.
Police responded around 4:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving several 911 calls about a serious crash in the area of 1810 West St., Police Lt. Frank Archer said.
Police said the driver apparently lost control of the car and struck a large rock and a utility pole.
Lodico, a 2008 graduate of Mansfield High School who later studied at Bristol Community College in Attleboro, was employed at Metro PCS in Mansfield.
A small memorial to Lodico has been set up at the accident scene.
Balloons were tied to the utility pole and at its base were three arrangements of flowers along with a bag of M&Ms and a can of Red Bull energy drink.
The section of West Street near Old Farm Road is a narrow country road, but there are two street lights near the crash scene and several houses.
The accident occurred in the western part of town, near the North Attleboro line.
Archer said the vehicle appeared to have been coming from North Attleboro.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by local and state police.
Investigators and firefighters were on the scene for several hours following the crash.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete.
