EDGERTON, WI : 1 person dead after crash on Highway 51 near Edgerton on Wednesday, 23rd January 2019

A 20-year-old Janesville man was killed in a two-car crash on Highway 51 near Manogue Road Wednesday morning near Edgerton.

According to Sgt. Josh Lund, of the Rock County Sheriff's Office, shortly before 7 a.m, police responded to a two-car crash on Highway 51. Lund said the crash was caused by winter road conditions.

The 20-year-old Janesville man was driving a 2003 Dodge Neon south on Highway 51 when the driver lost control on the snow-covered and slippery road while going over a hill, investigators said. The Neon slid into the northbound lane and hit a Ford F150 truck that was going north.

The 45-year-old Janesville man driving the truck suffered a minor knee injury and was released at the scene, according to a release.

Highway 51 was closed for almost three hours during the crash investigation. No arrests or citations are anticipated, officials said.
