Portland, OR : 39-year-old man critically injured in pickup truck crash September 26 2015.

A 39-year-old man in a wheelchair suffered life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a pickup truck near Southeast 82nd Avenue and Clinton Street.
Officers and medics arrived and located the injured man identified as Ronald Edwin Shapland and he was transported to a Portland hospital.
Investigators learned that Shapland was driving his motorized wheelchair southbound into the northbound lanes of 82nd Avenue, directly into the path of the pickup truck. Officers believe he may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, 68-year-old Michael Bute, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Bute was not injured and was given a ride home after the investigation was complete at the scene.
