A 56-year-old Berea man was killed early Sunday in a motorcycle crash in Sandusky County, authorities say.
Roger Cox was pronounced dead at the crash scene, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened about 12:20 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 6 at the Terra Roundabout in Sandusky Township, the release states. The roundabout is near Terra State Community College west of Fremont.Cox was riding his 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on U.S. 6 when he failed to navigate the roundabout’s curve.
Cox’s motorcycle hit an outer brick median and bounced back onto the roadway before smashing into a curb on the inner median, the state highway patrol said. After striking the curb, Cox was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on a landscaped area on the inside of the median.
Cox was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the patrol. Officials are working to determine whether Cox was impaired while driving the motorcycle.
