Beckley, WV : A Monroe male juvenile died in a car accident on Monday, July 24, 2017

A Monroe male juvenile died in a car accident Monday morning near Union, Monroe County Sheriff Sean Crosier reported.

In a press release, Crosier reported the Sheriff's Office, Union Volunteer Fire Department and other responders from Union Rescue Squad were dispatched to the Willow Bend community, a few miles away from Union, around 8 a.m. Monday morning to an auto accident on Willow Bend Road.

Upon arrival, officials discovered there were two occupants of a 2010 Pontiac Sedan traveling toward Union, and had run off the pavement, over an embankment and struck a tree.

Two male juveniles from the Gap Mills and Union areas occupied the vehicle, once of which was pronounced dead on the scene. The other was transported to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Crosier said the accident remains under investigation and there is no further information at this time.
