Glendale, CA : Deadly rollover crash on Loop 101 near 59th Ave. on Friday, 11th January 2019 15 hours ago

A 17-year-old female died in a rollover crash on westbound Loop 101 near 59th Avenue in Glendale early Friday morning.

The woman was driving a Jeep in the westbound lanes of the freeway when the car collided with a Lexus driven by an 18-year-old man from Glendale, according to a Department of Public Safety spokesman. The Jeep then rolled over.

The female had to be extricated from the Jeep due to the damage. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Lexus was not injured.

The crash forced a closure of the westbound lanes at 51st Avenue for a short time, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
