An Elyria man died Monday in a motorcycle crash on Jones Road in Wellington.
Charles “Chuck” Proctor, 58, was pronounced dead at the MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after being flown from 500 Jones Road, said Chris Harris with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office.
Police said Wednesday that Proctor a medical event while he was on the motorcycle, causing him to fall off. His motorcycle slid into a motorcycle in front of it, ridden by his son Jamie Proctor and Jamie’s wife Jessica Dean. Chief Tim Barfield said police are waiting on the medical examiner’s report to determine the cause of death.
He was a truck driver for 30 years with TNT Trucking, according to his obituary from the Riddle Funeral Home. He was born in West Virginia and had been an Elyria resident for nine years after moving from Vermilion.
Proctor was a member of the Lorain County Coon Hunters Club and enjoyed shooting guns, muscle cars, car shows, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family, the obituary said.
He is survived by his wife Glenda “Gale” Proctor, six children and nine grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
